   Compared to a mac mini this computer whoops butt. This computer puts the 2.0 gigahertz mac machine to shame an is a easily upgradable yourself. For 654 dollars you can have a awesome machine that won't break the bank unlike the mac mini then end up spending a fortune on extras for mac mini that should have came with. Bottom a heck of a good value for the money wished someone did this years ago before I bought my mac mini. This is a decent alternative to a mac that as stated above are way over price.

   I've had my Open Mac for about a week now and I'm very satisfied with both the speed and quality of components Psystar has chosen for the machine. I honestly didn't know what to expect when I ordered my machine but don't believe in anything you read that criticizes the workmanship of these machines. Quality components top to bottom. I had an aging mac mini and needed to upgrade. Apples answer was far too overpriced for me. I really hope your lawyers can make a case for an open market. I am telling all my friends about what a great machine this is and I'd like Psystar to be around and selling these machines in the future. Thanks for an affordable answer Psystar! (Posted on 1/3/09)

   Bought for my daughter so she can play with it!But now I'm playing and having fun!
   Very well build computer,easy to upgrade and the most important great value.
   Os X which is part of Unix is easy to go around with applications,very similar to Linux OS that I use for every day computing.If you don't want to spend a fortune in Apple store get one at Psystar and you'll be happy! Open source is the way to go for free software and freedom of choice!

   I love the quality of the “Open with Mac OS X” by Psystar. I bench marked my “Open with Mac OS X” to compare to the overpriced Apple hardware and hands down this system blows away a $2000.00 Apple system. I have recommended this system to my friends and hope that Psystar lawyers can prove that Apple is monopolizing its hardware. I like using the Apple OSX Operating System but love Psystar Customer Service and hardware they pick. There was a noise on the first model and they fixed it right away. I am waiting now for the Psystar Open Laptop with Apple Mac OSX.

   Great machine, works as intended and yes, industry standard parts are a plus.

   Runs OS X FASSSST. Excellent xbench marks. Fast renders on Final Cur Pro.
   5/5t if it had FireWire target mode. Almost perfect though. The Mac stylish case is not a drawback. Rather have the same performance for less $$$ than a fashionable case with minimally upgradeable components. (Posted on 11/16/08)

9. Replaced My Dead G5 Review by Jman3005

   My extremely expensive G5 took a crap after 4.5 years. When I decided to replace it I decided not to invest in anymore Apple overpriced machine and bought the Psystar Open with 4 GB of RAM.
   
   This machine had exactly what I wanted, because I had 2 UAD-1 PCI cards and I also wanted 2 PCIe slots for the Video card and a Firewire 400 Card. The Open had this. Not only did I get exactly what I needed with a PCIe 16X, PCIe 1X, and 2 PCI slots, but I had room for 3 SATA 500 GB Hard Drives.
   
   Now, I have the perfect music production machine for my second studio room. This Psystar "Open" Computer is faster than the G5 DP and after 4 months of heavy use, everything is working as advertised.
   
   Compare my "Open" computer for $650 with my G5 that was $2800, and the Psystar wins hands down. The only difference between this computer and my Mac is the boot process. It's a great computer. (Posted on 11/15/08)
